When Bamenda's Poets Met Regartless

This week, I had the honor of gathering with some of the most powerful voices in Bamenda's spoken word scene—Mottanni, Medine Yahje, Tsakeng Diane, Buhmoh Gillian, Oma Denzel, and Ateh Okono Guylainne—at the Regartless Office.

We were warmly hosted by Ngoasong Agendia (Peace Maker) , Head of REGARTLESS in Bamenda, and Belinda Lenyonga, Head of Administrative Affairs. Together, they are building something extraordinary—a creative space that will serve as a home for artists, activists, and dreamers.

We came representing the Abakwa Toks Creative Collective, and we came with a mission: to build a home for poetry in Bamenda.

We spoke about the fear of speaking truth in a conflict zone. About the lack of spaces to rehearse and record. About the mental health toll of carrying our community's trauma. About the economic reality of trying to survive as an artist.

And REGARTLESS listened—and responded with a vision that gave us all hope.

This is not just about art. This is about survival. This is about legacy. This is about ensuring that the voices of Bamenda are heard—today, tomorrow, and for generations to come.

To every poet reading this: your voice matters. Your words are needed. And now, you have a home.
