The Bandjoun Experience
We finally arrived at the Bandjoun Station, tired from our journey. The people there gave us a very warm welcome. After we put our bags in our rooms, we went to check the sound equipment for our show.
They took us downstairs to a basement. As we walked down the stairs and entered the room, I had a sudden, strong feeling. This is the place.
I called out to my friends, Fokumlah Magloire Babila and Nkeih Ronardo Shiengho. "Look at this space!" I said. "It will be perfect for our show!" They looked around and saw the same vision I did. We turned to the lady guiding us. "We want to have our show right here," we told her. "Is that okay?"
She seemed surprised and asked if we were sure we would be comfortable in the basement. We told her, "Yes, absolutely!"
We were excited to start setting up. The equipment was top quality—great speakers, pianos, mixers, and microphones. It was all perfect.
But just as we were about to start testing everything... click.
The entire place went dark. The electricity was gone.
With nothing else we could do, we decided to go to the city of Bafoussam to buy some things for the stage and to get some food.
And then, a wonderful surprise! We met the beloved President of the West region. He is a very important man, known for his wise saying,
"On ne mets pas l'argent sur l'argent" (You don't put money on top of money).
He greeted us with a smile and great honor. He even agreed to take a picture with us after we finished eating! It was an amazing moment.
But even with this good luck, our problems weren't over. Our friend Ayeah Leonette was still missing, and the plan for the show was still just an idea in my head, trying to become real.
