MOTTANNI PERFORMS AT NORTH WEST MEDIA FORUM
Spoken Word Artist Graces Prestigious Gathering of Journalists and Media Professionals
BAMENDA, CAMEROON — January 2026
Award-winning spoken word artist Mottanni (Tanni Desmond Awa) was the main spoken word performer at the North West Media Forum, held on January 15th and 16th, 2026, at the prestigious Admiralty Hotel and Apartments in Bamenda.
The forum brought together over 200 journalists and media professionals of English accent from across the North West Region to brainstorm on how to make the media career better, set out professionalism standards for journalists and media personalities, and explore how to brand and give more value to the noble field—making more meaning and money in the Bamenda Highlands.

Mottanni delivered a powerful and diverse selection of spoken word pieces from his three albums, captivating the audience of media professionals, dignitaries, and guests.

Honoured by the Presence of the Governor
The event was graced by the presence of the Governor of the North West Region of Cameroon, highlighting the importance of the forum and the recognition of media professionals as key stakeholders in regional development.
It was an honor to perform before the Governor and over 200 media professionals. This forum was a powerful reminder of the role that journalists and media personalities play in shaping our society. I am grateful for the opportunity to use my poetry to contribute to this important conversation.

Mottanni (Tanni Desmond Awa) is an award-winning Cameroonian spoken word artist, poet, host, and cultural organizer. He is a three-album recording artist (DarkLight, Bruises, and the upcoming Atogho), a trained Artist Human Rights Defender, and Public Relations Officer at New Breed Africa Foundation.
His work addresses themes of resilience, justice, identity, and hope, using poetry as a tool for social transformation and community healing.
